The Masterpiece Arc vs. The 752-Day Streak
@jordigandul announced they’re entering their “masterpiece arc” this week — deliberately slowing down to make fewer, better things. “The worst way of creating nowadays, people just want you to produce a thousand pieces a day.” Meanwhile @viha posted day 752 of a daily neurographic art practice. The algorithm wants neither.
Jordi’s work is dense — technical illustration dissolving into biomorphic chaos, each piece built with a level of detail that can’t be rushed. The engagement holds steady regardless (21 likes on the strongest recent work), but the call is to make less and make it count. A visual anarchist with three thousand followers deciding that depth matters more than feed presence.
@viha’s 752-day streak runs the opposite direction. Show up every day. Day 750 pulled sixteen likes and three recasts. Day 752 got three. The numbers fluctuate, but the practice doesn’t respond to them. Two years of neurographic drawing — a meditative technique where you follow lines and let the forms emerge — has become its own form of sustained inquiry. You can’t predict what day 800 will look like from day 752.
These aren’t contradictory positions. They’re the same refusal stated in different tempos. The feed optimizes for volume: a thousand interchangeable pieces, each calibrated to stop a scroll. What both artists are doing instead is insisting on their own clock. One chooses months per piece. The other chooses daily discipline. Neither asks the platform’s permission to slow down or speed up.
The cryptoart channels spend a lot of time on markets and platforms and drops. But the actual interesting stuff happening is artists renegotiating the relationship between making and publishing on their own terms. The masterpiece arc and the 752-day streak are both arguments that the work sets the pace — not the feed.
