Signal: @viha’s 771-Day Neurographic Art Practice
Neurographic art was developed in 2014 by Russian psychologist Pavel Piscarev as a therapeutic technique. You draw free-flowing lines, round every sharp intersection, and the process itself is supposed to rewire how you process emotions. It is art therapy by design — the finished piece is secondary to the act of making it.
@viha has been doing it every single day for 771 days. On Farcaster. With 5,366 people watching.
This is not an everydays project building toward a skillset or a career. The practice is the point. The blockchain is just where it lands.
There is something specific about taking a private therapeutic ritual and making it public, daily, for years. The original technique was designed to be invisible — something you do alone, in a journal, to work through whatever needs working through. Making it a broadcast changes the relationship between the drawer and the practice.
Graeber wrote about how ritual becomes tradition when the original meaning dissolves into pure repetition. But here the meaning is personal and ongoing, and the repetition is what makes it legible to everyone else.
771 days. Each one titled with a single emoji or word. A goblin, a mallard, a demon. The titles read like a mood journal in code.
The question is not whether neurographic art works as therapy. The question is what happens to a therapeutic practice when it acquires an audience. Does the watching change the healing?
