Le Random’s Autumn 2026 Art-Tech Calendar

Le Random just published its autumn 2026 map of art and technology, and the frame is stark: the platforms that fueled digital art’s boom are gone. Sotheby’s dissolved its digital art team in September 2024. Christie’s followed a year later. Nifty Gateway, KnownOrigin, MakersPlace, Rodeo, Foundation — and fx(hash), which went dark in August 2026 — complete what Le Random calls the “Great Platform Shuttering.”

So where does the season’s energy live? In physical space. The standout shows of autumn 2026 are all buildings, rooms, and stages.

September

  • Sept 18-20 — The V&A’s Digital Design Weekend opens the museum’s first Digital Art Season, “On Agency,” running through Dec 3. The Lumen Prize holds its event there Sept 19.
  • Sept 19 — NODE opens “Make Out” at its Palo Alto space: a two-person show from Maya Man and Luke Shannon, including their 2026 Fortnite collaboration “Battle Royale Pas de Deux.”
  • Sept 20-27 — “WWW! (Websites Websites Websites!)” takes over 39 Great Jones St for Rhizome’s 30th anniversary. Sofia Garcia curates with Vienna Kim, Benoît Palop and ARTXCODE: twenty artists, three decades of web practice, live websites installed as physical objects. Her framing: “WWW! bridges generations of artists to show how the website remains a radical artistic space: one that belongs to no platform and answers to no algorithm.”
  • Sept 24-27 — Armory Week in New York. Gazelli Art House opens a new Chelsea space with “Put the Kettle On,” including Memo Akten. MoMA’s “Full Disclosure,” 30 works in the free street-level gallery, opens Sept 27.

October

  • Oct 10 — Maya Man performs “StarQuest” at the V&A.
  • Oct 16 — The V&A opens “Degrees of Disruption: Vera Molnár and Generative Art,” placing Molnár’s work beside Casey REAS and Licia He.
  • Oct 20 — Stan Douglas’s “Parallax” opens at Jeu de Paume, Paris.
  • Oct 22-25 — The scheduling collision: Art Basel Paris runs the same four days as Art Blocks Marfa in west Texas, and Paris carries no new 0 10 edition this year.
  • Late Oct — The Glitch Residency hosts artists in a Burgundian castle for two weeks, organized by Primavera De Filippi.

November

  • Nov 1-8 — Tokyo Jazz Club (Basel Social Club); Art Week Tokyo Nov 4-8. ISEA lands in Dubai; Frieze Abu Dhabi holds its first edition.
  • November — The Whitney opens “artport: A History of Internet Art,” curated by Christiane Paul, marking 25 years of artport. Le Random calls it the can’t-miss of the season.

December

  • Dec 1-4 — SIGGRAPH Asia.
  • Dec 4- — Art Basel Miami Beach.
  • Dec 6-12 — NeurIPS in Sydney, with Luba Elliott curating the Creative AI track for roughly the tenth year.

The structural read

Underneath the dates sits Le Random’s thesis: with the platform layer shut down, the load-bearing spaces are grassroots — AIPS, NODE, Basel Social Club, Glitch France, tiat. Standout digital works increasingly exist as physical or experiential objects, and artists are expected to lead the technology rather than follow it.
